CRAFT WORKSHOPS

Responding to Community engagement

We've launched High Peak Heritage Crafts to give everyone in our community the opportunity to learn a new skill & spend time with others.    We are engaging with the community to understand which crafts are most popular for our residents.  A poll was recently released by SurveyMonkey asking for feedback on which craft you would most like to learn first.  Once we've established which activity YOU are most interested in, we shall be rolling out a small selection of core activities in the first phase of operations.  Additional activities will be added (in order of popularity) in 2021.

Courses may include: Glassblowing, Blacksmithing, Green woodworking, Medieval Crafts, Pottery, Felting and Wool crafts, Lithographic Printing, Stone Carving, Recycling Crafts (rag rugs), Wax Arts and Candlemaking, Seasonal Crafts, Willow Weaving and Jewellery Making.

This list is not exhaustive. We will respond to our community and provide courses which are deemed most popular from the feedback we receive.  Please do feel free to let us know WHICH activity you'd most like to try first. (here

What about the Kids?  YES - Most of our courses are suitable for families and children.

Presently, the three most popular activities (voted by our community) are:

POTTERY - CLAYWORKS

Ceramics

Courses return in June

SILVERSMITHING

Jewellery making

WILLOW WEAVING

WHO ARE WE?

We are the Whaley Bridge Canal Group C.I.C.

Through the activities of our volunteer group we have been working to conserve Whaley Bridge basin, the transhipment warehouse and the towpath up to bridge 32.
Our aim is to bring people together to help rejuvenate and maintain one of the town's great assets and links to the past. We are working towards the creation of a village green space for the town, bringing a range of events and activities that not only bring something that enriches the community but puts them at the heart of it.
